MfE consultation: reducing the environmental impact of fluorinated gases

2022-11-08

The Ministry for the Environment is seeking feedback on proposed measures to reduce the environmental impact of fluorinated gases (also known as F-gases or synthetic refrigerants).

Their plan proposes:

  • a regulated product stewardship scheme for refrigerants

  • prohibiting the import and sale of pre-charged equipment when alternatives are available, which is expected to happen over the next 10 years.

Read more about their consultation on their website here.
